"Beware that, when fighting monsters, you yourself do not become a monster... for when you gaze long into the abyss. The abyss gazes also into you." ~ Friedrich W. Nietzsche

Hello!

This site still receives a lotta traffic. Thank you for your continued interest.

I am still currently writing horror/suspense/pulp only in longer form. Visit my alter ego HERE for continued updates and current fiction. And please, you can call me Jodi or whatever you called me before I went all nom de plume.

Thanks for the years of loyal friendship and support.

My Muse Likes Cheesecake

My Muse Likes Cheesecake is up today at Flash Fiction Chronicles.

I hope this inspires you and kicks your muse's booty into gear.

Thank you to Gay Degani, editor of Flash Fiction Chronicles, for inviting me to write for (my fav blog on writing on the net!) the site. Follow her on twitter for daily word prompts and Flash Chronicle's author updates.

Jeffrey Callico has his new lit zine, Negative Suck, up for its virgin Issue. You'll find my photography and some great writes there, including a bizarre poem from one of my all time favs, Angel Zapata. Check it out.

Excellent work Jodi. I enjoyed your piece on writing - very funny and true. "Trust you to be you." A great line.

I like how you pointed out that what makes you write comes from inside, rather than outside stressors in life.

I find that writing is an escape from the outside stressors. I'm not normally motivated by what is currently happening around me, but by what has already transpired or awaits to – both of which are usually pieces within me.

PS - Beautiful photo on Negative Suck.

"but by what has already transpired or awaits to" ~ I was reading Bradbury last night. He said the same exact thing as what you just wrote. He writes about experiences that happened years earlier or what he can imagine in the future.

Thanks for reading, Erin. Glad you liked the photo.

Tessexianica(very exotic),

Thank you SO much for reading, and I'm glad it encouraged you. So happy you stopped by. I hear you are having a blast in Vegas. Awesome. ;)

Great post and awesome photography. I'm a firm believer of writing from the inside. I rarely have any idea what's going on around me. :)

Nice piece, Jodi my friend. I love Every Day Fiction and right now it is like my one bit of constant reading/writing that I am actually able to commit to. I read every story, every day and usually comment. I've gotten a couple more accepted there that I look forward to seeing how they are received.

Best,

--John

And people – non-writing people- want to know where it all comes from. they look at you funny when you say you’re not sure, it just comes, it gets juiced by muses at the strangest times..this piece so eloquently captures that notion and makes an instant connection with those who know. I know. You know. We know a bunch of people who know. This is a hot wire to that very essence. Yet another side of your work I’ve not seen. You should write more essays, you write them very well.

Awesome. Exactly, Laura.

I'll look for you at EDF, John. I wish you had a blog to let us know when a story was up. ;) I haven't read one of your twisted tales in awhile.

Thank you for reading.

Mike, you just said it exactly. There is a bond between we writers. No one else understand how that magic inside us work. I'm so grateful for people like you and others. We can relate to each other and keep strong. Thanks, buddy.

Jodi... The piece was awesome. I identified with so much of it...

My writing process, like most, is sometime excruciating and when life gets in the way, I almost have to get the crap outta my brain so I can move on...

Very very well done... Your muse suits you well.

Finally read your essay today. I particularly liked the tenacity that ran through much of the peace. Holding off the forces of laziness and self-doubt (dangerous vectors that are almost inescapable when they cross) is a great trait. You know you've got it.

Wow, this is great Jodi. Flash Fiction, photography, non-fiction essays: multi-talented. Can't wait to see what you come up with next.
