"Beware that, when fighting monsters, you yourself do not become a monster... for when you gaze long into the abyss. The abyss gazes also into you." ~ Friedrich W. Nietzsche

Hello!

This site still receives a lotta traffic. Thank you for your continued interest.

I am still currently writing horror/suspense/pulp only in longer form. Visit my alter ego HERE for continued updates and current fiction. And please, you can call me Jodi or whatever you called me before I went all nom de plume.

Thanks for the years of loyal friendship and support.

Weeping Stones At Yellow Mama

Spin the dials on your radio,
nestle in to that cozy chair,

and read yourself quite possibly
one of the strangest stories you’ll ever read.

Life might be warm, but death is cold.
Any sucker can tell you that.
So, dear reader, pull up a chair. Put on a sweater.
Do not pull on the cat’s tail and yes, you may make
yourself another cup of hot cocoa.

Most of all, Enjoy.

Thank you, as always, to Yellow Mama editor, Cindy Rosmus.

Ps. If you like this story, be sure to tune in next Tuesday, to Jim Wisneski’s 12 days of Christmas. My story, Peace On Earth Is At War, ‘ll have enough dead’uns to make your toes curl.

Hi Jodi. I gotta say that, of all the work of yours I have read, this ranks as my all-time favourite. While being unmistakeably you, there is a cup of cocoa and a sweater belonging to Uncle Stephen on the porch, isn't there? LOL!!
A superb piece, definitely one to share!!!

This one has such an Appalachian undertone..all creepy and secret.Love the build and simmer, never going overboard but just the right amount of horror. I'm with Paul - a classic JM.

I think I have to agree with Paul. This is definitely ranked among the top of your pieces. The unique voice and the repetition really worked. This was jaw droppingly good.

Thank you so much, guys. I can't tell you how excited I've been to share this story in particular with you all!

Paul, Of course there's hot cocoa and a sweater for Uncle Stephen. ;) You know, I thought about him when I finished up this story last summer. Reading his narration in Under The Dome made me remember how much I loved writing the voice & story - War On Earth Is At Peace is take two. ;D

Laurita, Mike, Paul, & Paul Thank you so much for reading during a busy holiday season! Glad you enjoyed.

Thanks for reading, Marilyn and no problem. I need to work better at keeping up with blogs.

Haha at cocoa. ;)

Very imaginative, but I don’t know how you can write creepy horror over a cup of hot cocoa; that’s truly a gift.

Wow Jodi!

Beyond wow! Beyond beyond wow!

I loved it. I had read the 12 Days story first. . . and I must say, you could EASILY have a nice anthology of your take on zombies!
