"Beware that, when fighting monsters, you yourself do not become a monster... for when you gaze long into the abyss. The abyss gazes also into you." ~ Friedrich W. Nietzsche

Hello!

This site still receives a lotta traffic. Thank you for your continued interest.

I am still currently writing horror/suspense/pulp only in longer form. Visit my alter ego HERE for continued updates and current fiction. And please, you can call me Jodi or whatever you called me before I went all nom de plume.

Thanks for the years of loyal friendship and support.

Trailer Snuff at 5x5 Fiction

Angel Zapata has created a fiction puzzle challenge! And he's done a monster mash up job editing:

Issue 2 of 5x5 Fiction: Secrets, Scuffles and Surprises

The reads are quick stabs of entertainment, but are writing them? Trailer Snuff  took me a couple weeks. When Angel first announced the zine six months back, I thought a complete (good) story in five words by five sentences would be easy enough. But... nah. Might as well tie my tooth to a string, the other end to a knob and slam the door.  On the other hand, I love a good challenge and reading others bites of creations are fun. After reading this (Crazy, Fun, Warped) issue, I challenge you to read the sub guidelines and work up a 5x5.

Big Thanks to Angel  for publishing my work.

Zombie Luv Contest Winners!

*This was already announced on Mari's Randomites, but I figured I'd blog it too*

First Place ~~Winner~~ :

Her story drew me in from the very beginning and just took my breath throughout. The judges were unanimous on this story.  Write more, Nishida. (Please) Congrats! Read her story at Flashes In The Dark today.

2nd place Winner:

 "Dead Flames"
By Angel Zapata

Angel Zapata? What can I say? He can scare your socks off and melt your heart in one breath. It was very worthy of creating a second place slot. Story will be featured at Flashes In The Dark July 26th.

Honorable mention:

"For The Love Of Mike"

Not only did he win the poll's vote, but he won mine and the other judges as well. His stories have this way of sticking with you for a long time afterward. He truly has the unique touch.

~~~~~~~~~~~
There are a good ten of you that impressed me with either quality, originality, pacing,  but I need to keep my mouth zipped for the sake of choosing stories for a Zombie Luv antho.
It was blast to work with the other judges Mari Juniper,  Lori Titus and Jim Bronyaur. Great people, great stories and lots of zombie luv to go around. Thanks for the fun everyone!
The Blind Will See
Attraction has never been so delicious
Or fatal
Lacerta
An anthology of the hottest, darkest horror in today's market including authors: Jason Michel, Carrie Clevenger, Barry Northern, Erin cole, Mark Anthony Crittenden, Angel Zapata, Paul D Brazil, Paula Ray, Lee Hughes, myself, and so many more.
*Lacerta is partially inspired by Rasputina's 'Hunter's Kiss.'
Just in!
Barry Northern reads my Howl story, Lacerta, as a sneak preview for Lame Goat Press Podcast! His vocal interpretation is AMAZING. Listen to it on his site here.
In other news, my essay, Flying Porkchops Saved My life, placed in the Editor Unleashed essay contest. It will be included in the smashwords anthology along with other wonderful essays.
Blink at Disenthralled Issue #5
My horror sestina Blink is up at Disenthralled Issue #5
(Thankyou to Angel Zapata for directing me to the poetic and rather mathematical art. It took me 20 hours to write this last summer. I hope you enjoy.)
As always Walter Conley's skills are topnotch at pacing, piecing each story, and choosing photography to enhance, build, and progress the disturbing flow of art. Every issue is a pure work of art in its entirety. Amazing writers offer their hearts and release their darkest thoughts.
For those interested in what a sestina is and the very specific formula it must be written in, read this site here.
ps. Yes, I'm still a CaveWoman. Stepped out for a breather, to get a fresh supply of (cherry) chapstick from Linda and because Carrie...nevermind. However, I am nestled back in and don't plan on coming out until you know what is you know what.
Commitment To Integrity
Well, I just had to write something about the plagiarism Angel has exposed. It is Angel Zapata’s and others words that were stolen, so I feel they should be the spotlights as to the outrage. So I humbly pledge my support with them and leave you with links to their blogs so you can read up what they have found.
Thank you to Angel for the detective work he did on tracking this guy down and starting an avalanche of support the writing community has pledged for each other and the integrity of each of our words.
Please visit their sites and pledge your support!
