Rigged

The answer to all his problems.

Thanks to New Flesh editor William Pauley III for publishing my work. The Ezine is fairly new - so check it out, folks.
Also, Erin Cole's 13 Days Of Horror is growing more harrowing by the day. Visit her site for some scares and fantastic stories.

This song played through my head over and over as I was writing Rigged.
Thank you, Aretha!

I don't think Rigged is up yet is it? Or am I just being blind?
It's not technically up until tomorrow, which is today now. Sometime, later this morning. Early birds don't always get the worm. ;p
Fantastic story! I left a comment over there. :)
Thank you, Laura. ;)
Guess he didn't get his R-E-S-P-E-C-T. Not sure Aretha's song will ever sound quite the same ;^)
Fabulous story if rather gruesome. And right before lunch. Peace, Linda
Thanks for reading and um...sorry about lunch. O.o
This flash has climbed to the top of my list of Jodi favorites. Very different voice for you. You kept it gritty and focused. It's actually a great piece of noir. Reminds me of something George Pelecanos would scribe. Will we be seeing more of this style from the verstatile frog queen of speculative fiction?
I have a whole new respect for you:)
Congrats and damn cool writing, from a girl who likes to bam every now and then.
Angel and Erin ~ You two have raised the bar for me...what's a girl gonna do except pull the trigger on those voices and see what comes out?
Sometimes a sharp bullet, sometimes a phony flag that says Bang! Gerald came out with a BAM and a twisted version of music.
You two are the best!
(Angel, I can't say I've read George Pelecanos, but I just looked him up and I'm intrigued. Thanks for the tip)
I checked in on this last night, too, when it wasn't up yet. It's the last one I'm reading before bed. I know you've voted for somebody else's as your favorite of the Friday, but this is mine. My favorite for this Friday, and my favorite one of yours in a while, Jodi. Not so high on the action off the bat, but high on the personality. Sensibly assertive and indigant from the first two paragraphs in a way that leads nicely to the police asking you to drop your gun.
That's quite a compliment coming from you, John. I'm shocked to say the least. Crazy evil has its own appeal.
Thanks, buddy.
Very, very strong stuff. Good on you!
That bald guy in the supermarket...I gotta look out for that one! This was creepy. I especially liked the duct tape with something orange leaking out the sides. (BRAAACK!) So awesome! LOL Keep it up.
Thanks, Paul!
You are so right, Mark. You don't know which one in the grocery line is the nut, Whether they are packing heat or not, whether they have secrets buried 6 ft under in the basement...Thanks for reading.
Great stuff Jodi - can't wait to buy a print book of your "Collected Stories".
I enjoy your work as well, Sean. Glad you enjoyed. ;-)
