Creepy Crawly
At Flashes In The Dark Today!
Texas inspired this story. There are more creepy crawlies than one can fathom. Ugly Things. Big Things. So big you can’t stomp because of the mess – you need the flippin’ vacuum cleaner. Slurp.
When it’s hot like it’s been during this drought, the dirt aka lawn cracks open so deep I can stick my hand inside (maybe further – didn’t want to find out). All sorts of things that go bump in the dark hide down there. Thus, a story was born. Some of you may recognize a name in the piece. He happens to be one of my favorite sci fi writers. ;)
I also wanted to put in a plug on John Wiswell’s audio piece called
Possible Origins For Him 1.
I think it’s an amazing piece of writing and John’s vocal skills blow me away.
You can also read it here. I recommend listening to it first.
ps. My blog is misbehaving! The bottom half isn't showing up. So if it shows up for you, go ahead and push stop or pause before you listen to John's Piece.

This one made me buggy..a super-creeper! Great piece Jody!
Great piece at Flashes, Jodi. I stopped by and left a comment.
Yeah, nice work John! I have to tell you though that the first time I listened, the sound was down on my computer so I had to turn it up. The piece was right at the introduction and I didn't know it but Jodi's Playlist was playing Linkin Park's No More Sorrow at the same time in the background. It was a bit chaotic, but it worked and I thought it was intentional. I did listen again without the extra audio once "Bubbles" came on and I realized what was going on. And John, Great piece read with psychotic enthusiasm.
But seriously, try it. Probably other songs would work too. Harry
Thanks for reading, guys!
Har, too funny about the Linkin Park intro. ;) For some reason I can't see the bottom of the blog (and there's funny colors), if anyone can see it. Just push pause on the music player, so it doesn't clash with John's story. I'm sure he'll love to hear people's reactions. ;)
I’m itchy all over. “spindly legs slip out” did it for me. Great story, Jodi. Um, I’m writing this with my eyes shut tight...
You may have already won the contest with this story, Jodi!
Excellent stuff both of you. John's vocal talent is amazing! He should guest narrate on Pseudopod or something.
Left a comment for you over at Flashes, Jodi.
I'm glad you liked my monologue so much, Jodi. Good luck in the Crawly contest!
Mike & Laurita! Thanks for your comments and glad to get you shivering. I can share my can of bug spray. ;)
I agree Barry - John needs to be narrating. Glad you liked the description of an Eysin and picked up on ol'Joe.:)
John, Barry seems to have insider knowledge about who is doing what in the world of voice. So I'd listen to him! Also, yes! I loved the Joker piece. I’m happy as a clam to promote good work.
Angel, So glad you enjoyed. Don't even go there about me winning the contest. We all know who is the master of horror round these parts (You!).
Yep, that's a proper creepy tale.
