"Beware that, when fighting monsters, you yourself do not become a monster... for when you gaze long into the abyss. The abyss gazes also into you." ~ Friedrich W. Nietzsche

Lacerta

An anthology of the hottest, darkest horror in today's market including authors: Jason Michel, Carrie Clevenger, Barry Northern, Erin cole, Mark Anthony Crittenden, Angel Zapata, Paul D Brazil, Paula Ray, Lee Hughes, myself, and so many more.

*Lacerta is partially inspired by Rasputina's 'Hunter's Kiss.'

Just in!
Barry Northern reads my Howl story, Lacerta, as a sneak preview for Lame Goat Press Podcast! His vocal interpretation is AMAZING. Listen to it on his site here.

In other news, my essay, Flying Porkchops Saved My life, placed in the Editor Unleashed essay contest. It will be included in the smashwords anthology along with other wonderful essays.

So, you are still about and not fallen off the face of the earth. ;-)

Top job and looking forward to getting myself a copy of the book.

Good luck with your current project.

Regards, David.

btw ... How's life in "the writing cave"?

Aw, thanks David. Nah, still here. I promised myself no more shorts until the draft is finished. Thanks for swinging by, buddy.

Hey Anthony! Good to see you. Yes, I expect nothing less that fantastic work from this book. BTW- I caught your voice in Barry's reading of "Their Own Dark Master". I wrote Barry right away and asked if that was you. ;) ALMOST finished with the draft. Thanks for asking!

Hey Jodi...congrats as always. I am constantly amazed by your talents. Uncle Stephen lead you along quite well :)
Just heard the podcast and wanted to say just how amazing the story comes oout with Barry reading. He has a great voice for this story.
Again, congrats and hope you are keeping the cave warm...

W00t! We've been chatting about Lacerta, but I wanted to say well done on the essay too!

Lacerta is simply awesome: creepy, suspenseful, beautiful = magnetizing! And twisted with an ending that couldn't be any better.
Excellent work, Jodi.
I'm so glad to have all thirty three authors into one fantastic mag.

Paul Phillips!

How are you? I was reading about you yesterday in The Bijou and thinking I needed to email you and see what you were up too.

Thanks so much for the compliments. This story, the whole lizardamn concept, had caught my imagination. Barry's voice was simply enchanting and just completely brought the story to life.

Cave is warming with spring. I'm positive this draft will be done in two weeks. Can't wait.

What more can I say buddy? loved loved love LOVED everything about the way you read the story, organize the music, the voices, EVERYTHING.

Most of all thanks for taking the time to record this one. I know it's the longest recording yet of yours, and I just so appreciate it. I'm looking forward to hearing you read others from Howl / Lame Goat Press.

Erin,

Not only are you a gorgeous cover model, a brilliant poet, but your horror is top notch suspense. So I'm tickled to receive this compliment from you. And you are absolutely right, Howl is composed of 33 of fantastic horror writers. I simply can't wait to read yours!

Congrats Jodi! Can't wait to listen to Barry's rendering tomorrow at work (speaker's busted on my laptop). You're making all kinds of waves for someone sequestered in a dank cave. Write on, girl! Peace, Linda

Hey Mountain Woman! This is all stuff from months back. ;) Barry surprised me with the reading. He's working with Lame Goat on podcast now.

All my good vibes to you as you finish up Pure. <3

Jodi,

Read Lacerta, then caught a flight to Europe and had Barry read it to me live (okay, white lie, but I did hear the podcast) and gotta say you've really outdone yourself. Magical does little to describe its power, its draw. Ribbon has woven herself into my brain and won't let go. I'm really delighted to be included in a book with your dazzling prose.

Big props from the King Of Horror. Thanks, buddy. I haven't read yours yet, I refuse to read from my screen and want to hold the book in my hands. (ha, watch me break down and read tonight - so long for nostalgic principles). Good to see spiders haven't spun you into their webs down in that basement of yours. I have extra candles (and a can of mace) if you need them. ;)

Haha, Jodi the guitar riff leading in on your tale is so the sort of thing that used to pop up on your blog audio player! That was great.

A lot of our buddies are in this anthology. Very cool of Barry to record a bunch of them for promotion - must have been fun to hear your work in his voice. Did you work with him on it, or just let him read it with his sense for style? Worked out nicely, especially for the opening scene.

Hey John!
Long time no see.Glad you are back and I hope revived. And yes, Barry surprised me with me with it all. He'd asked if he could read the story, but I wasn't sure if he was or not because it was so long. His voices, the music, the pauses everything was PERFECT.

Barry is creating a podcast for Lame Goat Press. He will be promoting material for their anthos. So that is why he is reading from Howl, and others soon.

The intro music definitely rocks! And yes, the opening scene was HOT. I really liked the music for the chase scene at the end too. Trust me, Barry knows how much I loved all this. *gush*

Lots of excellent horror in Howl and most by our good buddies. What more could a bookworm ask for?
