"Beware that, when fighting monsters, you yourself do not become a monster... for when you gaze long into the abyss. The abyss gazes also into you." ~ Friedrich W. Nietzsche

Hello!

This site still receives a lotta traffic. Thank you for your continued interest.

I am still currently writing horror/suspense/pulp only in longer form. Visit my alter ego HERE for continued updates and current fiction. And please, you can call me Jodi or whatever you called me before I went all nom de plume.

Thanks for the years of loyal friendship and support.

Sex, Blood, and Fairy Tales by Yelena Sabel

Yelena Sabel and I may live in opposite parts of the country, but we share the same love of horror, popping reality bubbles... with class. And class doesn't even begin to describe what this actress, model, and creatively talented screen writer can do (which seems to be everything!).

Yelena is in the process of directing her first movie, in which she herself stars, called, “Sex, Blood, and Fairy Tales”. She has written the script based on true life events. It has a human edge with a horror bite. I can't wait for the whole shebang! Watch the cool promo (scenes) below and check out movie progress, Yelena's great daily quotes, and gorgeous pictures on Facebook. You can also read her stellar interview with novelist Richard Godwin at his infamous "Chinwag at the Slaughterhouse" interview series.

ps. If you are faint of heart, please sit down before you watch and... cover your eyes.

I really enjoy seeing the work of new writers, and film makers. It seems all the elements are in place here, and I look forward to seeing the end result. Best of luck in your project.

I look forward to it too, Jack! I know you work with film too. Not an easy field. Yelena's been hard at work, and I'm so excited for her and all the actors/directors. Nothing like seeing your dreams unfold.

Screenwriters are definitely in a league of their own! Great pic on this one - sultry steampunk! Love it.

This certainly peaked my interest and I look forward to seeing more. After dabbling in scripts and trying to get a flick off the ground, I know it's NOT easy... Kudos!

This looks great, when can I see the whole film? Lavish visuals, just enough tempting to tease the snake in its cage, class soundtrack and the hint of something nasty in the cellar, congratulations Yelena, if you want a Chin Wag pop over to The Slaughterhouse http://richardgodwin.net/ .

I bet it took blood, sweat & tears!

Good luck Jelena

Hi Everyone, this is Yelena Sabel. Thank you for your great feedbacks! yes, it took blood and tears, and sweat and non-sleeping nights, not seeing friends, not having personal life to...create this BUT I'm not complaining, I wouldn't want it any other way. And...The Best Is Yet To Come :) I appreciate so much you take the time and view my works. This Project is going to be my first newborn baby. This Project is the first thing I think about when I wake up in the morning and the last thing I think about when I go to bed at night. So you know what I mean...Thank you again.

Please, someone explain me what "Steampunk" means" I've never heard this but it sounds steamy...haha I learned a new word today!

I personally have a hard time describing the steampunk genre, Yelena. Erin Cole would be a good person to define it. BUT I can send you to this vid... it's def steampunk.

Yelena,
I've been meaning to come back and revise my last comments on the Steam Punk genre. I was a bit confused (to say the least!). What I had in mind was Suburban Punk, but after getting familiar with your movie and synopsis, I'm positive that steam punk and probably not even surburban punk would apply. ;-)

Steam Punk is kind of a victorian age with a science fiction twist. I had originally thought it was a victorian age with a fairytale/sci fi twist which one could *almost* get away with, but I don't think that is what you are going for in your particular story line. In the end, genre doesn't matter, a story is a story! I just wanted to make sure I didn't confuse you with the whole steam punk thing, because at the time we were discussing this, I was definitely confused myself!
