I interview Yelena Sabel at Pulp Metal Magazine

Script writer, film producer, and actress Yelena Sabel and I talk about how she pulls stories from the written word through a camera lens to a visual experience, the psychology behind Stockton's story The Lady or the Tiger, her film Sex, Blood and Fairy Tales,  and of course, imagination in the purest art and form. The lady's mind is sharp and believe me when I say she's going places.

Come and enjoy the fun chat at the always epic Pulp Metal Magazine.

Great Interview Jodi. Somehow Yelena's list of movies there didn't surprise me :-) Love how she's a storyteller first and foremost - so many moviemakers forget that and get caught up in pretty images at the expense of narrative.

It's a great list, isn't? And I absolutely agree about the storytelling. Yelena is a genuine gem. Can't wait for SB&FT. Thanks for reading the interview & commenting, Sean. Congrats on the hospital anthology release btw, sounds like you've rounded up some freaky tales & authors for that anthology. I'm excited to read it.

Hey, Jodi! I enjoyed your interview with Ms. Sabel, but I couldn't leave a comment there, because Wordpress hates me. But I want to tell you that I LOVE Yelena's logic in her discussion of The Lady or the Tiger. Let the tiger rip the SOB to shreds, and get it over with! I hope I will be able to see her film, "Sex, Blood and Fairy Tales," someday. And it would be so super-duper if you were in the same theater at the same time as I am!

Jodi,

Terrific interview. You cut to the chase and gave us the the heart of Yelena as it influences and is reflected in her film. Especially telling was the part about what drives us and do we really know ourselves until we're in a particular situation. All of this was feasible because, as an interviewer, you did a solid job of making her comfortable enough to reveal herself. Kudos!

Good to see you up at PMM again.
